Freedom Flotilla Interception ‘Piracy’, Says Nurul Izzah

PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar condemned the Israeli interception of the Freedom Flotilla as a grave violation of maritime law and international justice. While relieved by the release of nine Malaysian activists, she stressed that the act constituted piracy and collective punishment.

Citing previous seizures of humanitarian vessels, she called for a permanent end to the Gaza blockade, which the ICJ has deemed illegal. Nurul Izzah praised the Malaysian delegation’s courage and urged global focus on systemic injustice, not just individual detentions. She also condemned recent Israeli strikes, saying they reflect ongoing contempt for peace and international law.
