KOTA BHARU: PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah emphasized Gerakan’s critical role in attracting Chinese voters for Perikatan Nasional (PN) ahead of the next general election. Acknowledging the challenge, he admitted Gerakan struggles to compete with DAP, needing to rebuild its image and strengthen party machinery. “We hope Gerakan can attract as many Chinese voters as possible,” Amar said, urging the party to contest Chinese-majority areas boldly rather than seeking safe Malay seats. He cautioned Gerakan leaders against remarks that harm PN, stressing coalition unity. Amar believes Gerakan, being closer to the Chinese community, can eventually rival DAP with improvements.
