New: PAS Trapped in Malay Belt ‘Status Quo’ by Blind Loyalty, Says UMNO Leader

1 min read

UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi claims that PAS remains a “status quo” party within the Malay-majority belt due to its members’ blind loyalty to party leadership. He argues that although PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is seen as a religious figure with global vision, he lacks appeal among non-Malay voters. Puad adds that PAS survives politically not through relevance, but through followers’ unwavering support. He contrasted this with Amanah’s open criticism of Hadi’s leadership, which failed to weaken PAS. Despite praise from party insiders, Puad suggests PAS’s growth is limited by its insular appeal.
