59-Year-Old Malaysian Grandfather Now Scores High in SPM Science

At 59, Hamidan Yahaya’s pursuit of knowledge is undeterred as he sits for the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) 2023 in Science. A public driver at Camp 504 Askar Wataniah, Chuping, Perlis, Hamidan achieved a B+ in Science, studying amidst the lively presence of his grandchildren at his Jejawi, Arau home. 

Malaysian Grandfather scores high in SPM science 

Last attending school in 1982, he aims to inspire his descendants with his dedication to learning despite his age. Self-studying with books purchased by his children, Hamidan, a former military member and Royal Malaysian Navy veteran, retook the SPM as a private candidate, having previously aced Mathematics in 2022. 

Supported by his family, he continues to improve academically, correcting past weaknesses and setting an example of lifelong learning.
