KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin praised the PN-led administration’s 2020–2022 tenure, highlighting an 8.7% GDP growth in 2022, Asean’s highest, and unemployment dropping from 5.3% to 3.6%. Hamzah, former home minister, said PN’s 74 seats in the 2022 election led to a hung parliament. PN declined a proposed unity government with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, citing its likely failure. Hamzah noted PN’s strong performance, winning 146 state seats in 2023, forming governments in four states and gaining ground in others.
