PETALING JAYA: Putra president Ibrahim Ali has urged Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh to show the same “courage” on major national issues as he does on controversies like the Jalur Gemilang gaffe and the KK Mart socks incident.

Ibrahim said Akmal should not limit himself to matters of race, religion, and flag etiquette, but also speak up on corruption, justice, and the economy. He stressed that Umno Youth must act as a check and balance, not “a pet cat chasing mice outside the house.” Leaders, he added, will be remembered for tackling substantial issues, not safe ones. Rafizi Ramli has also said Akmal risks being known in the future when he is older as someone who fights over flags, socks and chicken ham.
