Japan’s cult doughnut brand I’m donut? has officially opened its first Southeast Asian store at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur, welcoming customers from 12 September 2026.
Founded by chef Ryouta Hirako, the brand is known for its playful name and signature “nama doughnuts,” which feature an exceptionally soft texture and handcrafted preparation.
Playful Brand Identity Defines I’m donut?’s KL Experience
The Malaysian debut introduces more than 30 flavours, including the Original, Nama French Cruller, Pistachio Cream, Cacao, and Custard. To celebrate its arrival, I’m donut? has also created Malaysia‑exclusive offerings inspired by local tastes, such as Cham, Hojicha Kaya Jam, Milo Glazed, Masala Chicken, Banana Fritter Caramel, and Pandan Coconut Cream.
These creations reflect the brand’s philosophy of blending Japanese craftsmanship with the food culture of its new home.
Chef Hirako expressed excitement about bringing the brand to Malaysia, praising the country’s vibrant food scene and adventurous consumers.
The store’s design mirrors I’m donut?’s playful personality, focusing on freshly made, artisanal doughnuts. For Malaysians, the outlet offers a chance to experience the brand without traveling to Japan, while returning fans can rediscover familiar favourites alongside new local flavours.
