Police in Kota Bharu have opened an investigation after a CCTV recording showing a man allegedly kicking a young girl at a Thai restaurant in Telipot went viral online.
Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Azmir Damiri said police received a public report at about 10.24pm after the video circulated on Threads. The girl is believed to be the man’s daughter.
Viral Restaurant CCTV Triggers Child Abuse Investigation
According to police, the recording was uploaded by the restaurant owner through Facebook and showed what authorities described as rough behaviour towards the child. Police have since begun efforts to identify and locate both the man involved and the girl seen in the footage.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which covers offences involving the abuse, neglect or abandonment of children.
Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information that could assist the investigation to come forward. The incident has also renewed online concern over the protection of children and the importance of reporting suspected abuse through official channels.
