The government’s plan to implement a targeted fuel subsidy for RON95, excluding the T15 group, has stirred confusion. Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (BN-Ayer Hitam) highlighted concerns over the unclear definition of the T15 income bracket. While the top 15% of earners are said to begin at RM13,295 monthly, Wee argued it is unfair to label such households as “uber wealthy.” He proposed an alternative approach, suggesting a petrol levy on high-end vehicles rather than complicating petrol station operations with a two-tier pricing system, which could burden both the T15 and regular consumers.But DAPs Lim Guan Eng disagrees that this tax is robbing the rich to feed the poor.
