Johor police confirmed that former Johor Bersatu associate wing chief Datuk Tan Lek Khang accidentally shot himself in the chest during a shooting exercise at Ladang REM range, Kota Tinggi. Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the incident occurred while Tan was emptying his pistol’s chamber.

“The bullet hit his left chest, and the victim was unconscious when sent to Hospital Kota Tinggi,” he explained. Tan later underwent surgery at Hospital Sultan Ismail and is now stable. Police recorded statements from nine witnesses, including his coach, bodyguards, friends, and stepson. Tan holds a valid firearms licence.
