From July 1, 2025, Singapore-registered vehicles entering Malaysia by land must have a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) or face a RM300 (S$91) fine, as announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke on June 4. To be VEP-ready, vehicles need a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag on the windscreen or headlamp, activated by Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ), and linked to a Touch ’n Go e-wallet or card with sufficient credit for the RM20 road fee. Drivers can apply for the Vehicle Entry Permit online, check application status, or collect tags at designated centres in Singapore or Johor.
