BERLIN, July 26 – Jurgen Klopp began his reign as Germany’s head coach with a stern warning to the media, threatening to quit if his family’s privacy is invaded. The 59‑year‑old, appointed on a four‑year deal to replace Julian Nagelsmann after Germany’s shock World Cup exit to Paraguay, said he would “turn away” if journalists behaved badly. At his first press conference, Klopp stressed he was taking the job for the nation, not himself, despite witnessing how Nagelsmann and England’s Thomas Tuchel were treated under scrutiny. He described the role as the pinnacle of his career, adding: “I will give everything I have got.”

Klopp’s contract runs until the 2030 World Cup, co‑hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. His first match in charge will be against the Netherlands in the Nations League on September 24. The former Liverpool manager returns to coaching after leaving Anfield in 2024.
