KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) – Lee Hsien Yang, the youngest son of Singapore’s founding leader Lee Kuan Yew, has condemned the government’s plan to preserve his late father’s home at 38 Oxley Road as a national monument.

He accused the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) of “trampling” on his father’s explicit wish to have the house demolished, calling it a disregard for Lee Kuan Yew’s values and legacy. Built in 1898, the property was where key independence discussions took place. The government insists preservation honors national history, while Lee Hsien Yang maintains it betrays his father’s stated instructions.
