A viral social media post has sparked controversy after questioning how Rohingya refugees are allegedly able to obtain driving licences in Malaysia. The post, which included images of a licence bearing the logo of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), raised concerns about whether such documents are officially recognised.
Confusion Grows Over Alleged Rohingya Driving Licences Circulating Online
The post compared the situation with Malaysian citizens, who are required to undergo formal driving lessons and complete tests through the Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ). It questioned whether refugees were being given easier access, or if the licences were issued through unofficial channels or syndicates.
Online reactions were divided, with some users claiming the document shown was not a legitimate Malaysian driving licence but possibly an identification card or unofficial document. Others called for authorities to clarify the matter to prevent misinformation and public confusion regarding immigration and licensing policies.
