KUALA LUMPUR – DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has publicly rebuked party adviser Lim Guan Eng for his continued criticism of Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow over new land tax rates. Loke said the leadership was “deeply concerned and disturbed” by the dispute, describing it as unhealthy and inappropriate. He stressed that disagreements on public policy should be resolved internally, not aired in public, especially during sensitive geopolitical and economic times. Loke announced he would arrange a meeting between Lim and Chow to resolve the matter amicably.

While criticising Lim’s approach as “highly inappropriate,” Loke also urged Chow to take concerns seriously, noting they reflect public grievances. He emphasised that land tax reviews must be balanced and considerate, particularly for schools and educational institutions. Loke concluded by reminding party leaders to uphold discipline, avoid public bickering, and focus on serving the people and safeguarding public interest.
