The inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne on December 19 faced issues. The airline has experienced several setbacks this year, including reduced routes and manpower issues.

In 2022, Malaysia Airlines agreed to acquire 20 Airbus A330neo planes. Rolls-Royce found a faulty component, and Airbus is ready to assist in investigating the issues.
