Malaysia’s inflation rose slightly in July 2025, with consumer prices up 1.2% compared to a year ago (June: 1.1%). The increase was mild, making it one of the lowest levels since March 2021. Eating out became pricier, rising 4.3%, while the cost of food at home continued to dip slightly. Inflation in cities matched the national rate at 1.2%, while rural areas saw a slower rise of 0.7%. Economists expect inflation to stay stable at around 1.8% this year, mainly influenced by government tax policies, fuel subsidies, and other measures rather than strong price pressures.
