Malaysian Passport Rises to 2nd Strongest Globally

Malaysia has reached a new milestone in global mobility as its passport climbs to second place worldwide in the Passport Index Global Ranking 2026. This achievement marks a proud improvement from last year’s third-place standing and reflects the growing strength and prestige of the Malaysian passport on the international stage.

Malaysians Gain Access to 175 Global Destinations

According to official figures highlighted by the Immigration Department, Malaysian passport holders now enjoy access to 175 destinations across the globe. 

Of these, 129 countries offer visa-free entry, while 46 provide visa-on-arrival facilities, leaving only 23 destinations requiring pre-arranged visas. This expanded mobility underscores the passport’s trusted security features and international recognition.

Malaysia now shares the second-place tier with Singapore, both holding a Mobility Score of 175. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) leads the global ranking with a score of 182, while Spain follows closely behind in third place with 174.

The Immigration Department emphasized that this leap reflects global confidence in Malaysia’s passport, which continues to undergo upgrades to enhance security and convenience. 

For Malaysians, this achievement means greater freedom to travel, fewer administrative hurdles, and a stronger sense of national pride as their passport stands among the world’s most powerful.
