The Malaysian police, known as Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), will be seeking assistance from Interpol to locate Jocelyn Chia, a Singaporean comedian. The request will be made tomorrow, according to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, who also mentioned that they have obtained a transcript of the suspect’s speech in the viral video clip.
Malaysian police looking for Jocelyn Chia?
The PDRM previously requested profiling from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) on June 7, and the matter is still being dealt with by SKMM. The investigation into the case is being conducted under the relevant sections of the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Chia received widespread criticism for her comedy performance in New York, where she mocked Malaysia and made inappropriate comments about the MH370 tragedy. The Singaporean High Commissioner to Malaysia apologized on her behalf, emphasizing that Chia is no longer a Singaporean citizen and expressing surprise at her remarks.
In a recent interview, Chia claimed that the viral clip was taken out of context and did not represent her complete performance.
