Former Malaysian university professor Dr. Khaw Kim Sun was found guilty in a retrial for the 2015 murders of his wife, Wong Siew Fing, 47, and daughter, Lily Khaw, 16, who died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a leaky yoga ball filled with toxic gas placed in their car. Khaw, a 60-year-old anaesthesiologist, had initially been convicted in 2018 and sentenced to life imprisonment, but his conviction was overturned in 2023 due to judicial misdirection. During the 41-day retrial, Khaw represented himself, claiming the gas was for experiments on rabbits. The jury unanimously upheld his guilt after deliberating for four hours.
