Sidewalks are important for most developed countries as they encourage their population to walk to their destinations. Singapore is a prime example, alongside with the Netherlands in doing initiatives like these. However, it is unfortunate that Malaysia, the Klang Valley at the very least, does not have the same facilities.
Malaysians demanding for better sidewalks
An X user states that the rate of obesity is rising in the country, and these pedestrian pathways may be helpful in reducing this. Another issue is that we have a third world mentality problem where cars are constantly parking on these pathways that are built for people to walk on.
Others are blaming the contractors assigned to the job, as the job is done they tend to leave these finishing touches undone. Regardless, this has been a problem in the country for the last few decades.
