1.86 Million Malaysians Seek Opportunities Abroad
Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, cited the World Migration Report 2022, showing Malaysia’s migration rate at 5.6%, higher than the global average.
Most migrants head to the US, UK, and Canada, working in management, medicine, and technical services. To combat brain drain, the government launched the Returning Expert Programme (REP), which has successfully brought back 2,011 talents since 2011, offering incentives like tax and excise duty exemptions.
