Maritim Malaysia Arrests Smuggler in RM958,500 Cigarette Bust

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) conducted a raid near Sungai Pengkalan Ekor, Pasir Mas, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old man and the seizure of 1.2 million smuggled white cigarettes from Thailand.

The operation uncovered five vehicles, two motorcycles, and 120 boxes of cigarettes, valued at over RM958,500. Maritime Captain Erwan Shah Soahdi stated that suspicious boat activity prompted the operation. The team acted swiftly to halt smuggling activities. The confiscated goods are part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal trade and ensure the security of Malaysia’s borders.
