Le Monde newspaper says a massacre of dolphins has caused dissent among Islanders around Feroe Island.
Olavur Sjuroarberg, president of the Association of Faroese Whales, traces the course of the events for Le Monde saying the villagers thought there were 200 dolphins in the bay.
“The bank was extended to the south and the bay of Skalabotnur, at the end of the fjord. When they stumbled across the beach, the hunters discovered that the dolphins were much more numerous.»
According to Olavur Sjuroarberg, about 500 were recruited to the area. The others were slaughtered with knives by the fishermen left on the ground, in water up to the size. This has raised the ire of many people!
