MCA man now asked how is pilot smuggling drugs Loke’s fault?

PETALING JAYA, Aug 5, 2026 – DAP vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan has rebuked MCA Youth deputy chairman Mike Chong for demanding that transport minister Loke Siew Fook explain how a Malaysian pilot managed to smuggle drugs out of the country. Syahredzan described Chong’s remarks as “low-class,” accusing him of exploiting the issue to attack Loke, who is also DAP secretary-general. “Why should Loke be urged to explain when a pilot is caught smuggling drugs? The bigger question is how the pilot passed our security screenings,” Syahredzan said in a Facebook post.

He stressed that Loke does not control border security, adding that MCA should not politicize such a serious matter. Last week, Indonesian authorities arrested a Malaysian pilot at Soekarno-Hatta Airport for allegedly smuggling 25kg of ecstasy pills and 2.7g of methamphetamine. The pilot had cleared routine security checks at KLIA before departing for Jakarta.
