MetMalaysia said thunderstorm warnings — triggered when rainfall may exceed 20 mm per hour — have already been activated in areas including Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan, Rompin, Mersing and Kuching, with additional monsoon rain expected over parts of Sabah and Sarawak from Feb 19 to Feb 23.

The department also cautioned that rough seas and strong winds could pose risks to small craft and coastal activities, advising residents and mariners to monitor weather updates via official platforms and the myCuaca app.
