MIC strategic director R Thinalan criticized Umno for asserting dominance over Barisan Nasional’s (BN) representation in the coalition government, following BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s call to retain seven ministerial posts after Tengku Zafrul’s departure from Umno. Thinalan argued that Zafrul’s ministry belonged to BN, not Umno exclusively, and replacements should be discussed with BN components like MCA and MIC. He questioned Umno’s unilateral stance, emphasizing that BN’s unity is undermined if decisions favor only Umno, urging fair representation for all coalition partners.
