Fugitive Malaysian financier Jho Low has reportedly applied for a presidential pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump, according to the Department of Justice website. The request, filed under “pardon after completion of sentence,” remains under consideration.
Jho Low Remains At Large Despite Charges
Jho Low faces U.S. charges linked to the 1MDB scandal, accused of misappropriating USD4.5 billion and personally profiting USD1.42 billion. Prosecutors allege he and Goldman Sachs bankers paid USD2 billion in bribes and distributed USD1 billion in kickbacks.
Former banker Tim Leissner testified Jho Low claimed Trump and Jared Kushner were involved in negotiations to end the probe. Leissner’s own pardon request was denied.
