Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who turned 100 yesterday, says he cannot comprehend why people choose to rest in retirement instead of remaining active. Speaking on his podcast, Mahathir emphasised his desire to stay sharp and live each day as he did when younger.
“I cannot understand people wanting to rest… some people retire and they want to rest. What is the meaning of rest? You’ll do nothing?” Mahathir said in an episode of his podcast. You are alive and capable, your mind and body is still functioning, (but) you’re not making use of this gift of God that you have. I want to behave almost as if I’m not getting old”
