However, many Malaysians rejected the claim, insisting the gesture was unprovoked. The backlash intensified after viral footage showed Diallo and teammates Alejandro Garnacho and Ayden Heaven allegedly asking locals to pay for their e-scooter rides.
Football icon David Beckham has now weighed in, saying current players must “represent the crest” and show greater respect to fans. Beckham criticised the declining discipline and attitude among some Manchester United players.
