Debate over the proposed MADANI F1 ticket initiative has intensified after local host and content creator Zhiddin Aziz voiced strong opposition. In a viral Threads post, Zhiddin argued that government subsidies for Formula 1 tickets are misplaced, stressing that public funds should instead be directed toward infrastructure upgrades and community engagement.
He noted that F1 fans are generally prepared to spend on the experience, even with rising prices caused by scalpers, or ulat tiket.
Formula 1 Festival Proposed as Inclusive Alternative
Zhiddin warned that discounted tickets could normalize dependency on government aid, creating long‑term social impacts.
“Today it’s MADANI F1 tickets, tomorrow what will they ask for?” he wrote, urging Malaysians to live within their means. He suggested that funds would be better spent improving roads around Sepang, particularly in Kota Warisan, benefiting residents and visitors alike.
As an alternative, Zhiddin proposed a large‑scale Formula 1 Festival featuring live screenings, car exhibitions, and collaborations with Proton and Perodua.
This, he argued, would allow more Malaysians to enjoy the excitement without needing grandstand tickets. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim introduced the MADANI ticket idea to make F1 more accessible should the race return to Sepang, but full details remain pending.
