At the Umno Women’s Assembly, Chief Noraini Ahmad emphasized that the wing will never forget the contributions of former prime minister Najib Razak.
She said Najib sacrificed much of his life for Umno and Malaysia, and Wanita Umno continues to pray that “the doors of justice and compassion” will open so he can reunite with his family.
Noraini Ahmad: Wanita Umno Will Not Forget Najib
Noraini highlighted Najib’s role in economic transformation, infrastructure development, and social assistance, stressing that history should not be erased simply because politics has shifted.
While affirming respect for legal institutions and Najib’s ongoing cases, Noraini insisted that acknowledging humanity remains important. Najib is currently serving a reduced six‑year prison sentence and a RM50 million fine after his SRC International conviction.
Noraini also revived Wanita Umno’s long‑standing demand for 30% female representation in elections.
She argued that women, often called the backbone of Umno, must not only be mobilized during campaigns but also included in decision‑making.
To achieve this, Wanita Umno will launch the “30 Women Pathway” initiative, including a Talent Bank to identify and prepare qualified female leaders for roles in Parliament, state assemblies, government‑linked companies, and community leadership.
