MERSING – Two men faced a harrowing experience when they encountered a Bengal tiger while fishing near the Felda Nitar 2 palm oil plantation last Wednesday. Nazeri Iskandar, 31, and his friend Azmir Mokeri, 35, had just begun fishing at 5:45 PM when they spotted the wild animal. Nazeri described the situation as terrifying, saying he prayed to Allah for safety. Azmir initially tried to flee, but Nazeri asked him to face the tiger. Remarkably, the tiger halted and Nazeri recited Surah Al-Fatihah, the prayer of Prophet Solomon, and the three Quls (shorter recitations). The tiger then snatched Azmir’s bag, which contained a smartphone, fishing gear, and water. They went back in the forest to recover the bag and iPhone.
