KUALA LUMPUR – Despite hundreds of police reports filed against controversial preachers Firdaus Wong and Zamri Vinoth, no charges have been brought due to insufficient evidence, Law and Institutional Reforms Minister Azalina Othman Said confirmed. In a written parliamentary reply to RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong), Azalina said the Attorney General’s Chambers found no legal basis to prosecute either preacher. She emphasised that while civil cases have time limits, criminal investigations remain open should new evidence surface. Wong is known for promoting conversions of underage non-Muslim children, while Vinoth has been criticised for making derogatory remarks against Hindus. Investigations remain ongoing.
