The Penang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has found no evidence of water contamination in RON95 petrol storage tanks at a petrol station in Batu Kawan following claims circulating on social media.
State ministry director S. Jegan said inspections carried out on Sunday with representatives from the oil company and station operator found no water in the tanks over the previous three days.

Physical inspections of the petrol pumps and tank sump also found no water accumulation apart from normal condensation, while manual checks using water-finding paste detected no signs of contamination.
Officials also visually inspected fuel dispensed from all pump nozzles and found it appeared clear, with no contamination visible to the naked eye.
The inspection followed several social media claims that vehicles had experienced problems, including difficulty starting, after refuelling at petrol stations around Batu Kawan.
The ministry had earlier said it would investigate the complaints after the allegations went viral. Authorities said follow-up action would continue with the oil company and station operator to ensure consumer safety and address the matter comprehensively.
