PAS Urges Dissolution of Parliament Now Amid Madani Infighting

KOTA BHARU, Sept. 6 — PAS has called on the Federal Government to dissolve Parliament and return the mandate to the people, citing growing instability within the Unity Government.

Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said internal conflicts among coalition parties have become increasingly visible, with leaders openly attacking one another. “For stability, just dissolve Parliament. Let the people make a new choice,” he told reporters after attending PAS’s 75th Jubilee celebration.

He argued that the current government was formed through coalition compromises rather than a clear mandate from voters, noting no single party won enough seats to govern independently in the last general election.

Tuan Ibrahim also criticized PKR leaders for pressuring UMNO to clarify its position, stressing that UMNO holds more seats than PKR and should be respected within the coalition. He suggested UMNO’s discomfort stems from actions by PKR, DAP, and other partners.

The remarks follow reports that UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) are considering an early PRU16, with BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi saying fresh elections would restore legitimacy by securing a direct mandate from voters.
