Netizens Demand Platform Screen Doors at LRT Stations After Taiwanese Man Death

Our public transportation system is rather peculiar as our above ground MRT stations do in fact have screen doors to prevent passengers from stepping over the platforms. However, the above ground LRT stations, namely on the Kelana Jaya and Sri Petaling/Ampang lines, don’t have it. 

Netizens demand platform screen door at LRT stations after man’s death 

Unfortunately, a Taiwanese man fell onto the tracks and subsequently ran over by a train at Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT station. The tragedy caused a halt to operations on the Sri Petaling line yesterday. Social media users are asking what’s stopping Prasarana and the government from installing these for safety. 

Apparently, a few months ago, an elderly blind man had a similar fate as he fell onto the tracks belonging to the same LRT line. Social media users are appalled by the lack of screen doors which could prevent further deaths in the future.
