Perikatan Nasional (PN) has filed an application for judicial review challenging two notices issued by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), seeking an expedited hearing before the Election Commission (EC) decides key dates for the Melaka state election.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the application was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court at 10.14am on Monday, with the coalition seeking clarification on its registration status and whether it can contest the Melaka polls using the PN logo.

He said an urgency certificate was also filed as the EC is expected to meet on Wednesday to determine key dates for the election.
The challenge concerns a Sept 22 show-cause notice issued by RoS over the possible deregistration of PN and a Sept 23 order suspending the coalition’s activities. Takiyuddin said the dispute stemmed from a complaint by Bersatu over PN’s decision not to invite the party to a July 16 meeting.
He said PN had excluded Bersatu after its leadership decided to contest elections under its own logo, while concerns were also raised over whether Bersatu had the required quorum to participate in PN decision-making.
Takiyuddin said PN had sought clarification from RoS on its status and logo use but had yet to receive a response. He added that discussions were ongoing on alternative options should PN be unable to contest under its own banner.
