Former Penang Deputy Chief Minister Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy has called for a new, inclusive political platform to represent the interests of non-Malay Malaysians, amid growing concerns of economic and political marginalisation. Responding to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call for Malay political unity, Ramasamy warned that all ethnic groups risk being sidelined under the current administration. He advocates for a multiethnic coalition that champions equality, transparent governance, and national unity. “The fate of non-Malays is equally worrisome,” he stated, urging progressive leaders to prioritise policies that address the socio-economic needs of marginalised communities, especially in Sabah and Sarawak.
