Government Reconsidering Touch n Go Monopoly System

The government will reconsider the Touch n Go (TnG) monopoly system as there haven’t been any significant developments or progress in the two decades since its creation.

Speaking at the “Bertemu Anwar” dialogue session, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remarked that he was not impressed with the progress made by the company. He stated this while answering a university student’s question about whether the government intended to end TnG’s monopoly since card payments are now authorised for parking and petrol stations.

PM Anwar expressed that the system hasn’t progressed or improved convincingly and that reconsideration is necessary. The dialogue session was held as part of the Youth Empowerment Forum 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
