A foreign-run provision shop in Melaka was found committing several violations, including storing vegetables in a toilet for sale, during an inspection by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN). The shop, operated by a Bangladeshi man married to a local woman, was raided during Op Samar on September 30 at the Tanjung Minyak Industrial Park. The trader was found breaching the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and selling expired items, including instant laksa. KPDN Melaka director Norena Jaafar stated that 26 premises were inspected this year, with 20 cases registered for various offences.
