Political observers say it would be highly risky for PKR to replace Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail with newly joined member Tengku Zafrul Aziz in the next general election. While Rodziah has established strong grassroots support in Ampang, Tengku Zafrul is viewed as an outsider with little political grounding in the constituency. Critics caution that he lacks time to build networks before GE16 and is still seen as a “political unknown,” having risen to prominence only when appointed finance minister in 2020. Rodziah’s proven service record, they argue, makes her a safer candidate for the seat. Rodziah has her own following and is a veteran PKR leader now.
