One of the hottest debates now is regarding children from T20 families being eligible for JPA scholarships. However, netizens are stating that the cost of living has risen so much that even those making a household income of five figures a month are feeling the pinch.

Netizens are further complaining that the class distribution is too “linear.” Citing that those who make RM15,000 a month and RM15 million a month are in the same T20 category. Another person suggested that income classifications should be divided with the amount of individuals living in the household as well.
Others state that JPA scholarships are meant for those who achieve well in academics. JPA is not a bursary to begin with. Furthermore, there are people defending those who deserve the scholarship solely based on their results. There are other means available for the less fortunate to gain a scholarship, said a netizen.
