KOTA KINABALU, Sept 15 — The landslide disaster that has hit Sabah since Friday has claimed 12 lives, including five children, while thousands have been forced to evacuate.
Kota Kinabalu police confirmed seven victims, including four children aged two to nine, were buried in a landslide in Kampung Cenderakasih, Inanam, this morning. In Papar, a woman and her 11-year-old son were killed when their house in Kampung Mook collapsed under mud.
Landslide: 12 Dead, Hundreds Displaced
Two more people were found dead in Kampung Marahang Tuntul, with search operations ongoing for another missing victim. Separately, floods have worsened across five districts, forcing 1,648 people from 417 families into temporary shelters. Authorities have opened multiple evacuation centres in Penampang, Membakut, Papar, Putatan, and Beaufort.
