New: Selangor Police Now Detain 13 Under SOSMA for Cable Theft Syndicate Probe

Selangor Police will detain 13 individuals under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) to investigate a cable theft syndicate suspected of sabotaging Malaysia’s critical communication infrastructure. Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the arrests, made under Section 124K of the Penal Code during Op Lusuh Mulia, target suspects linked to crimes disrupting government and security data networks. The syndicate, led by two men with extensive criminal records, sold stolen cables worth RM683,000. Five police officers are among 16 others previously detained. The suspects face up to 28 days’ detention to aid further investigations.
