PUTRAJAYA – The arrest of five senior Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) officers by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly leaking military operation details to smugglers will not affect national defence operations, says Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar.

Some of those detained were members of the Malaysian Defence Intelligence Organisation (MDIO) and have been immediately replaced. The officers, including a lieutenant colonel, were arrested under “Op Sohor” for allegedly colluding with syndicates to smuggle prohibited goods such as drugs and cigarettes. Mohd Nizam pledged full cooperation with MACC and urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.
