Johor experienced its seventh minor earthquake today when a 2.9-magnitude tremor struck near Batu Pahat at 1.57pm, according to MetMalaysia. The quake, centred 25km west of Batu Pahat in the Straits of Melaka at a depth of 10km, follows six recent tremors in Segamat. Earlier Saturday, Segamat was hit by a 2.7-magnitude quake, the latest in a series since August 24 that began with a 4.1-magnitude tremor. While no injuries have been reported, residents are increasingly concerned over the frequency of seismic activity. MetMalaysia assured continuous monitoring and updates on further developments.
