Singapore has seen a sharp rise in young drug offenders, with 126 individuals z under 20 arrested in 2024, according to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). The youngest was just 13, well below the average onset age of 16. CNB’s acting director, Leon Chan, called the trend worrying, citing growing tolerance towards drug use among youth. Methamphetamine remains the most commonly abused drug, with 89% of under-20 cases linked to it. Singapore maintains strict drug laws, including the death penalty for trafficking, with strong public support—87.9% believe it deters drug crimes, according to a 2023 government survey.
