The reopening of Singapore’s land border effective April 1 has seen a 40 per cent booking of hotels in the state of Melaka from Singaporean travellers says State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Exco Datuk Muhammad Jailani on Thursday.
“In fact, in some of these hotels, bookings from Singaporeans can reach up to 80 per cent. The other hotels are around 40 per cent and this means that the economy of the hotel sector in Melaka is now recovering,” he says.
“If they (the hotel sector) don’t contact me (to complain) it’s okay, it means their business is getting smoother because the cost of travelling in Melaka is also cheap,” he says. More on tourism @LatestMalaysia
