Lawyer and controversial activist Siti Kasim updated her Facebook profile picture with an image that shows her embracing two colourful teddy bears. Earlier, an edict by preacher Azhar Idrus who ‘banned’ grown-up Muslims from hugging stuffed animals while they sleep. Siti Kasim did not make any explicit statements accompanying her photo, and they may not be related. The cleric is yet to respond to the viral photo.

Cleric ban of teddy bears
Azhar Idrus recently urged adult Muslims that they should not sleep with teddy bears or similar dolls as it was against Islamic teachings. He said angels will not enter the homes of adults who keep dolls and figurines. He also reminded parents and guardians that they should prevent their children from sleeping with dolls or toys like teddy bears. But many believe that cartoon charactors are not real animals and angels would not be impressed by them.
